This presentation is a work in progress.  I've been adding my thoughts to each of the slides over time.  I placed a lot of information on each slide that could use additional explanation.  I only had 30 minutes to give this presentation.  Obviously there was not enough time for much detail or "show and tell" either (following any of the links within the presentation).  Sometimes you have to travel at Warp Speed!

Please let me know if you find any mistakes, have any comments to add or even if you think I'm way off base with what I've presented.  I can't promise that Mr. Rocky R. Dog will let me do anything with your email, but at least you'll be able to vent your frustration to someone else who has it all wrong.  (Yes, I have MS too!)

Whatever you choose I hope you will enjoy the presentation and maybe you'll learn something new in the process!  If you have a group or event you'd like for me to give this presentation to, you'll have to speak to the boss.  I'm not allowed to speak for myself in these matters.  One key thought is, "If you make an offer that can't be refused, it probably won't be."

Table of Contents

  1. Opening Slide: It truly is a remarkable time to be alive!

  2. Title Slide:  What's the one thing we've all either heard or felt just after being diagnosed with MS?

  3. Speaker Info:  Well, you already know about me.  It's the slide where the event gets credit, too.

  4. Agenda:  It reads a like lot stuff, stuff and more stuff.

  5. Resources?:  This is a real question that is also an individual's choice.  The resource here is one that I use!

  6. Resources?:  The question may be, "Is this a resource for PWMS?"  It works for me, hang on to your hat!

  7. Resources?  This is for the Dadman, a.k.a., Larry Cravetz. Thanks:  This is a resource that many PWMS use.  It can be a comfort to know that someone is there to help you.

  8. Some Starting Points:  Everybody has to start somewhere.  Search Engines help you find sites.  Now one search engine provides FREE INTERNET ACCESS!!!  Talk about a start!

  9. Resources For PWMS:  Must See Sites for PWMS!  From the Global to the local MS Society sites.

  10. Resources For PWMS:  Here is a big list of the types of resources that can be found on the internet.  It's up to you to finish the list.  After all, what's a resource?  Everyone has their own MS and everyone has their own notion of what a resource is.  Good surfing!

  11. Resources For PWMS:  The IMSSF is unique.   Find out why.

  12. Resources For PWMS:  It takes all the help we can get to help in all kinds of ways.

  13. Resources For PWMS:  A little more personalized group of resources that help PWMS with the need to find someone else with MS to talk to.

  14. Resources For PWMS:  And the list goes on, and on, and on ...

  15. Resources For PWMS:  Now there's Video and Audio clips (just to mention a few multimedia formats) just for us.  More access and content everyday!

  16. Resources For PWMS:  Ever hear of webraries?  They organize websites using the Dewy Decimal system.  No joke!   An exciting effort by today's Librarians.  Did I say this is an exciting time to live?  You can also find drug and alternative medicine info as well as doctors on the net.

  17. Resources For PWMS (and other people too!):   There is life beyond MS.  Whether you just want to play games or you'd rather spend the afternoon at the museum.  The Smithsonian is the Nation's Museum!

  18. Some More Resources For PWMS (and other people too):   You can find all of the news.  Newspapers, Radio and TV Stations are online now.  If you're going out you might want to get directions first (and maybe a map too!).

  19. Disability Resources For PWMS (and other people too):  If you need help in finding a disability resource, you don't have far to go.  There are people and organizations that can help.

  20. Disability Resources For PWMS (and other people too):  And the list goes on.  Hey wait a minute!

  21. Some Fun Resources For PWMS (and other people too):   Just feel like reading some cartoons?   Need to send that card you forgot to buy or put in the mailbox?  How about starting a new hobby?  You don't need to have MS to do these things.

  22. Some Home Resources For PWMS (and other people too):   Have you seen the BH&G How To books?  Too tired to clip coupons every week?  Get them online for a store near you.  Maybe you'd like a complete set of office software?

  23. Basic Web Tools:  Everyone needs a Browser.  Bet you're using one now.

  24. Free Web Tools:  Now that you've got one, keep it up to date!  Now they can tell what you've installed and offer upgrades (for free!)

  25. Free Helpful Tools:  Ever wonder if anyone you know is online while you are?  My family uses AIM to keep in touch across the country.  It's cheaper than long distance.

  26. More Free Helpful Tools:  Want to get and print your own tax forms rather than stand in line?   Many organizations publish their information across the net today.  That includes music too.  Plus other utilities you may want to have.

  27. A Very Helpful Tool: Too fatigued to read the info you've found?  Let your computer read it to you!  I do!

  28. Government Resources For PWMS (and other people too):  Now you can get the voting records of your elected officials.  All you need to know is your ZIP Code!

  29. Getting There:  You'll need to learn where you are and how to get around sometime.  Here's one place to start.

  30. Now That You're There:  What should you do?  Where can I go?  Who can I trust?

  31. Mr. Rocky Dog and I Thank You

  32. Closing Slide:  It's back to the future for you!
