The list goes on, and on, and on ...

Jooly's Joint has been around almost since the beginning of time (for the internet anyway).  The Web Pal service is a great way for you to find someone to talk to about living with MS in a very personal sort of way.  The folks there (who, many of them, are also PWMS) do their best to match people as Web Pals (the internet's version of Pen Pals).  Sometimes you just need someone else to talk to.

A mail list is a service that links (sometimes a great many) people together to discuss a common topic.  Everyone posts (sends) their comments (emails) to one address.  Then the email is mass emailed to everyone who "subscribes" to that mail list.  All mail lists have ways to subscribe and unsubscribe from them.  Many mail lists will allow you an option of receiving each email individually, as they are posted, or to receive a whole days worth of postings in one email.  That reduces the amount of email you will receive.  It also means that you will have to wait until the end of the day to read what's been posted.   Anyway you receive your messages, most mail lists become an active and vibrant communities.  Some even organize their own "get togethers."

An internet bulletin board (BB) works much like any other bulletin board.  If you have a thought you can post it.  If you want to respond, you can.  Some BBs will cycle the postings on a regular basis, and some don't.   That way you're not under pressure to read every post that is made.  You can pick and choose from the subject headings whether or not it is of interest to you.  I find that BBs are good reference tools since many people share their thoughts and expertise on them.  You can find the particular subject you're interested in and read it.  You can pick and choose from the index provided and only read the ones you want.   That can save you a lot of time.
