Resources For PWMS

• MS Societies - Now that the MS Society is over 50, there are many chapters online.

• Associations - Associations have sprung up to meet other support needs for PWMS.

• Foundations - Imagine a world without help. Foundations are another resource for help for PWMS.

It Takes All the Help We Can Get
To Help Us In All Kinds of Ways.

It would be nice if there was a Wal-Mart or K-Mart where PWMS could go to and find all of their needs fulfilled.  It ain't gonna happen folks!   There is no one stop resource center for PWMS no matter how the site's owner may hype it up.  In today's world we've all learned by now that you have to verify the information you find.  The truth is out there!

Local NMSS chapters help in being advocates for PWMS through the use of special committees and task force groups (mostly made up of non-paid volunteers), but are they always looking out for us?  If you don't participate, you get what you get.  Things don't happen by themselves.

The real beauty of the internet is the overwhelming amount of things you can find.  Did you know about the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, Inc.?  I had not heard of them before I started surfing the net five years or six years ago.  MSF and Easter Seals offer year-round individual and family Camp & Respite Programs for people with disabilities (PWMS included here!) in more and more states all the time!

Remember my earlier comment about "Bridge Building" and the ripple effect that is occurring today?  Well this is just another twist to the use of that modern phrase.  The Easter Seals (they've been around the disability world for a long time!) organization teaming up with the MSF to offer real services to PWMS rather than to ... well you know.

Now let's look at some resources that really get personal for PWMS!
