Please, Vote In 2000!

Rocky hate's it when I get political.  This year I have to say something.  If you don't participate, you have no voice.  You think that your vote doesn't count?  It does, now more than ever.  Guess who doesn't want you to have a Patient's Bill of Rights?  Guess who wants to give your money away to the people who already have money instead of making sure that everyone gets the health care they deserve?  Have you ever been at a Support Group meeting and a newly diagnosed person comes in telling the group that they never thought about health insurance and now they can't get any?  Well, if you don't care about yourself or that uninsured member of the group we belong to then maybe this page isn't for you.

America is a great country.  However, it takes more than just paying your taxes to be a REAL AMERICAN!  It takes a commitment to be part of the community.  It means speaking out for what is right (you are using parking tickets when you see people stealing handicapped parking spaces aren't you?)!  It means you VOTE!

Someone will win each and every election.  That person will make decisions that will impact your life.  When you decide that your vote doesn't count, then it's you who doesn't count ... not your vote.  It's just too easy to leave your responsibility to someone else.  However, you are the one who owes it to your neighbors, if not yourself, to VOTE in every election.  That's a small price to pay for living here.

Now you can get the voting records of your elected officials.  All you need to know is your ZIP Code!  Vote Smart will help you find out the truth about your elected official's voting record.  Don't just sit back and listen to the infomercials on the TV, find out yourself!

Gee, that's a pretty heavy guilt trip, isn't it?  Maybe it's okay for the savvy internet user who isn't confused by everything that the net has to offer.  That's a valid observation.  After all, everyone needs a place to start.   You can start on this page to start learning about your elected officials and what's available from your Government.  There is even a place where you can go to Learn The Net.  Want to see?
