Are you too fatigued to read the info now that you've found it? Let your computer read it to you! I do! That's right, I can free myself of the eye strain and the confusion that comes with it (for me anyway)! At the moment you still have to pay for this wonderful piece of software. However, if some really rich guy wanted to make a difference in the lives of PWMS, maybe he'd get his company to develop his own version to give away free (hey, it's not like he hasn't done it before!).
Okay, so it may not be free, but this really is a fantastic tool for me. My MonSter has created a problem for me. Reading isn't what it once was for me. Due to Optic Neuritis (inflammation of the optic nerve) my vision and vision processing just isn't what it used to be. I'm only good for a few minutes when I have to read. Beyond that I spend too much time having to re-read because I lose track of what's being said by the author.
Willow Talk is a "Text to Speech" software tool. It will read the currently open windows document (or webpages!) to you. If you don't want the whole window read to you, you can just highlight the portion you want to read and then start Willow Talk reading! This has been a real find for me. Now I can listen to the long scientific articles about MS and, while I'm ebing read one page I can follow the supporting links and still listen to the page that had the content I wanted to hear.
It's not just doctors who can write long technical papers. Government documents can be just as tedious to read. That's right, you can access the various branches of Government and just about all of their publications online today. It all depends on which Governmental level you want. Have you ever wondered how to find Governmental resources?
